Welcome to Denver/Central City KOA
We are so enjoying seeing the mountains and the snow on top of the mountains. So different than Houston where I called the Houston mountains "overpasses". Here is the first mountain range we saw after we left Alamosa, CO.
I knew that the Rockies where in CO but didn't realize we would be driving over them. Here is a sign that I had to take a picture of to prove that we did go over the Rockies pulling the rig. The sign reads, "Top of the Rockies". I just thought that was so cool.
While navigating, I saw a flashing sign that read, "vehicles above 13'11" use alternate route", we think we are below 13'11", but didn't want to be "that guy" stuck in a tunnel, so we took the alternate route. Little did we know how high and curvy this route was going to be, it was a little scary. Let's just say that we didn't see any other RV's or 18 wheelers along this route. Hubby did a great job, and I was able to watch out for upcoming curves in the road, what the speed we should be going and when he could pull over so cars could pass us. I was also able to see people skiing, that was fun to watch.
We ventured out on Monday to get food for the rest of the week. The weather report called for snow. Didn't really think about what that meant, but knew we wanted to be ready for whatever was coming our way. On the way back to the KOA I saw mountain sheep, and we both saw around 15 deer, but I couldn’t get any pictures, so sad. So, I got ready in case we saw any other animals and low and behold elk! Just amazing to watch them. I wondered if they were coming down lower because of the snow that was coming.
Well, Tuesday hit and so did the snow. I am writing this blog on Friday and yes, it is still snowing. We have had breaks now and then from the snow falling and I believe it got above freezing once. I am not afraid, I know God is in control and He had all of this planned before time began, but I really thought we would be seeing other sights that CO had to offer. "She is not afraid of the snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet." Proverbs 31:21 (NASB). I am praying that next week we will be able to go and see things in this amazing state.
It has been a good time, even though most of the week has been spent inside. I keep playing this verse, from a new song by Crowder, over and over in my head, "Tell me is He good? (He's good) Tell me is He God? (He's God) He is good God Almighty". There is nothing God can't do, and He is showing us a wonderful beauty that we haven't been able to experience, and I am very grateful to Him who goes before us. We had a little bit of a scary adventure as we traveled to the KOA, but God, He is good, and He is God!

ReplyDeleteI’m just thinking about how God prepared you for the snow
ReplyDeleteby allowing you to survive the snow days in Texas with no power! He showed you you can survive in all kinds of weather, even snow for a week with power.
