San Antonio week 2

The weather has been really good, some days in the 80's and then a front blew through, nights were in the 40's. What God did was create beautiful clouds through all that weather. He is so sweet to remind us that weather will change, but He will not.

"Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the
Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." James 1:17 (NASB)

We had a special guest this week. We haven't seen Tim or Tressa in seven months, but Tim drove from Houston to San Antonio on Thursday! We had dinner Thursday night at the rig and Mari and Mario joined us. It was truly an amazing time spent with them. My sister-in-law, Del, had made lumpia and I froze it so that we could all enjoy it together. Since, we had that, I went ahead and made chicken stir-fry with fried rice. Good food, great company!

Friday, after hubby was off from work, Tim, hubby and I went to the Pearl Brewery. The brewery was established 1883 in downtown San Antonio, TX. In 1985, Pearl's parent company purchased Pabst Brewing Company and assumed the Pabst name. In 1999, the Pabst Brewing Company began transferring its production to Miller Brewing. Pearl beer is still made at the Fort Worth, TX facility. Pearl closed its doors in San Antonio, but in 2001 Sliver Ventures, Inc., transformed the property to the crown jewel in revitalization efforts. There are cute shops, good restaurants and a beautiful hotel named Emma.

Emma Koehler ran Pearl brewery after her husband, Otto, was killed in 1914. Fun fact: Emma kept the brewery up and running through Prohibition by making near beer, ice cream and soda. After Prohibition ended, the brewery went back to full production and became the largest brewery in the South. Emma remained the CEO until 1942, she was amazing age of 84 when she retired.
