Goodbye Houston

Sometimes it is easy to say goodbye to a place we stayed, much harder to say goodbye this time. We had fun visiting with friends and family, but it just wasn't enough time. We sure had a great time with the everyone we saw; it was fun to share stories and I enjoy sharing photos of our adventures.

Last Saturday, we were able to go out and see Ashley and Colton. They lived with us for about a year. She is one of Tressa's best friends and she became a daughter to us as well as Colton being like a grandchild. He is growing up way too fast, as are our other grandchildren (which we will see in March).

Ashley, Colton, Hubby, Tressa, Tim's nose and me.

We also were able to spend another night with Jim and Fonda. That was good, but hard to say goodbye. Hoping we can meet up with them while on the road in 2022. That would be a lot of fun. They are more than friends, they are family. Our children have grown up together, we do Christmas together, hubby and I just enjoy being with them and their family. "One friend with whom you have a lot in common is better than three with whom you struggle to find things to talk about." Mindy Kaling. "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NASB).

Hubby, Fonda, me, Jim and Tim.

Tim joined us for dinner as well. We had a great time and even went outside on the patio and talked some more. It is so nice when you have people that feel like home. "Friendship takes work. Finding friends, nurturing friendships, scheduling face time, it all takes a tremendous amount of work. But it's worth it. If you put in the effort, you'll see the rewards of positive friends who will make your life extraordinary" Maya Angelou. Fonda is the one that gave us the "Road Food" book, we didn’t go to one here in the Houston area, the one they wrote about we had gone to many times. Hopefully there will be a place in the Dallas area.

We traveled Saturday to Anna, TX, it is in the Dallas area. We will be able to spend time with friends and family while we are here. I can't even remember the last time we saw hubby's cousin, Belinda. It will be great to catch up with them for sure. Pictures to come on the next blog post.

Fun fact: Following the American Civil War, the Houston and Texas Central Railway resumed laying track north from Corsicana and passed through the area in 1872. By the time Anna was platted in 1883, it had a population of 20, two stores, a steam gristmill, and a Baptist church. A post office also opened in that year. In 1885, the railroad built a depot.

If there is something special you would like me to take a picture of, please let me know!
