Davenport, Florida

Hope that you are having a restful Palm Sunday. Jesus made His triumph entry into Jerusalem on a borrowed donkey. The crowds were placing their jackets and cutting down palm branches to celebrate Him. Not everyone was excited about this. "The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest!"" "When He entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said, "By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?" Jesus said to them, "I will also ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John was from what source, from heaven or from men?" And they began reasoning among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say to us, 'Then why did you not believe him?' But if we say, 'From men,' we fear the people' for they all regard John as a prophet." And answering Jesus, they said, "We do not know." He also said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things." Matthew 21:9,23-27 (NASB). For more on this event in Jesus' life, read Matthew 21.

Well, we made reservations to stay at Cody's Catfish farm and RV Resort. That didn't work out so well. The place was crowded, the owner sort of flaky, he didn't remember the size of our rig or how long we were going to be staying. He tried to put us in a spot, I was helping outside on the passenger side to make sure we didn't hit anything. I tried to see what was happening on the driver side and about had a heart attack, or panic attack, so just stayed on my side. He couldn't get us into the spot and took us to an "overflow" spot. Yep, Albert found another place for us, and we headed out on Sunday to Davenport, Florida. It is a KOA and much better.

Our site for three weeks.

Haven't seen big fluffy clouds like this for awhile.

It was a lovely week, the promise of rain throughout the week, but just on Thursday it rained. It also brought the temperatures down and we had a lovely Friday. We decided to have a "Date Night”, so we went out to the movies. It was a nice theater that also had some good food. The service was also wonderful. We saw, "The Lost City" staring Sandra Bullock, Tatum Channing, Brad Pitt and Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe). It was a good movie, and it was fun to laugh.

It was a nice evening.

Saturday, we headed to Tampa. We ate at a Rood Food Book restaurant, met up with a friend of hubby's from elementary school and did some site seeing. Again, it was a beautiful day.

La Teresita Cafeteria. It also has a bakery, café and banquet hall.
It was good Cuban food and we would go back.

Rob, JoJo (hubby's friend), me and hubby.

Driving around the bay.

Looking across the bay.

Chickens roam free in Ybor (Ebor) City.

The two cities I know that allow this is
Ybor City and Key West both in Florida.

Just happened to stumble on a Farmer's
Market in Ybor City, made me happy.

Walking through the main area.

On September 7, 1891 El Centro Español was
the first Latin club in organized in Ybor City.

Fun fact: Ybor City is a neighborhood in Tampa, Florida and it was founded in 1885. Lively Ybor City is known for boutiques and vintage shops on 7th Avenue, which also hosts Cuban and Latin American eateries. Housed in a 1920's bakery, Ybor City State Museum has exhibits on the cigar industry and the areas immigrant communities.

I received a nice surprise last week as well. A gift from my little sister, Stefanie. She has been working with her creative mind and making beautiful wood flower wreaths, wall hangings and magnets. She has probably done other things as well. It is amazing that the flowers are made from wood. Here is what the cutie sent me. I love it!

Purple is my favorite color.

Well, another new state with new information about their birds, trees, flowers and motto.

*Florida: Northern mockingbird (Bird), Sabal Palm (Tree), Orange blossom (Flower), and "In God is our Trust" (original motto in 1868) "In God we Trust" (slight variation made official 2006) (Motto).
