Making our way North

What a time we had in Prattville, Alabama. Sad it was only for one day, but still the adventure was worth it. We pulled into a lovely RV park that was full of trees and hills. We were supposed to stay for a week, but you know, life happens, and you make the best of it. Staying in Florida for an extra week helped hubby and I establish our walking routine and for 2 1/2 weeks we have been going strong. This week we started planking, it isn't fun, but I am hoping after a month we will be stronger and able to plank longer. Seeing other older women in the RV parks/resorts we have been in has given me motivation to get moving and eating healthy. Some women walk/exercise while others need help/assistance. I would like to prevent the later one as long as I can.

Just thought these horses were
cute, so I had to include them.

Daniel Pratt founded Prattville in 1839 and patterned
if after his home state of New Hampshire.
Because of how many artesian wells this town
has it is also known as "Fountain City".

If you look closely you can see locks on
this fence. Lots of love in Prattville, AL.

Daniel Pratt built a gin mill, saw mill and
grist mill in 1830's on the Autaugu Creek.

Water has always played a significant
roll in the history of Prattville, AL

Daniel Pratt chose the location of this town because it was
close to the Autauga Creek and the Alabama River.

"Let Love reign" in Prattville, AL.

Had to have dinner here, just because
of the name, "Fat Boys BBQ Ranch".

We then headed to Tennessee, and we are staying at the Nashville North KOA. It isn't the prettiest place we have stayed. Hubby doesn't even want to take a picture of the rig while being here. The weather has been nice, and we were able to go to Nashville a couple of times. On Mother's Day we went to the Grand Ole Opry Mall and my gift was a new pair of walking shoes that would work on gravel, rocks, cement and asphalt. So far these are the conditions of the streets in the RV parks/resort where we have stayed. Let me just say, I love my new shoes! Thank you, hubby! Then we saw a Chuy's restaurant and I just had to go there. Same wonderful food as we have had in Houston. Yum!

We also went downtown on a Wednesday evening just to walk around and hear some local talent. We ended up at Jason Aldean's restaurant and bar. The men performing were good. They were from Australia, and I enjoyed hearing their accents while speaking in between songs. I was surprised at how crowded the streets were for a Wednesday evening, but it was nice to walk around and check things out.

Made it to Tennessee.

I loved the look of this steeple.

Not sure if you know about Black Rifle Coffee Company, but hubby found out about it and when we were in Savannah, Georgia, we went into one of the free-standing coffee shops and bought a couple of bags just to try it out. We love this coffee, not just because it tastes good but also for what it stands for. The company was founded December 2014 by a former Green Beret Evan Hafer. He began by selling a small volume of his "Freedom Roast" coffee through a friend's apparel website. The coffee sold well, so Hafer launched his own brand and website through which to sell his coffee and branded accessories. After we finished the first bag, we went online and bought more. It is hard to plan when to buy certain things online when you full time RV. So, we found a shop in Clarksville, Tennessee and had a road trip last Friday to get some more bags of coffee.

In the store, they only had whole bean
of hubby's favorite, so they ground it for us.

Black Rifle Coffee Company's corporate image is built on its conservative politics and supporting veterans. Over half of its staff are former military. The company also maintains a pro-military, pro-gun, pro-police image. Fun fact: while being in Clarksville we went to dinner and upon paying I noticed the address; we were eating on Wilma Rudolph Street. She was born in Clarksville, Tennessee in 1940. I ran track in high school and was inspired by Wilma. She grew up a sickly child who had to wear a brace on her left leg and the doctor told her she may never walk.  She overcame her disabilities to compete in the 1956 Summer Olympic Games, and in then in 1960, she became the first American woman to win three gold medals in trace and fields in a single Olympics. "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 (NASB)

1940 - 1994

Even though this KOA isn't the prettiest, it has fun weekend nights. Last Friday, after visiting Clarksville, we sat outside and listened to Miles Burger and his partner, Chloe. It was a beautiful evening and I enjoyed listening to them sing.

This is Chloe, didn't have a good view of Miles playing.

Saturday, we went on a "Redneck" bus tour of downtown Nashville, but more about that on the next blog post.

If there is something special you would like me to take a picture of, please let me know!
