Big Sky Country

Back in Bozeman, Montana for the past week. It was a good week. Last time we were here we went to museums, we hiked, and tried new restaurants. Last week we ate out at the same places and went on a beautiful drive to Bridger Bowl. Harder to do a lot when you only stay one week. Although we are in the Mountain time zone, so hubby is off from work at 2:00pm.

Our site for last week.

Bozeman is a cute and charming city. I can see why so many people are moving here. It is also quite expensive to buy a home. Guess if you are coming from California, you would still be buying a home at a bargain.

Holy Rosary Catholic Church downtown Bozeman.
Built in 1912, Gothic Revival architecture.

I must say I had a fun time at the Farmer's Market on Tuesday. I love having fresh veggies and it was nice to walk around and just look at all the different items they had for sale. I know hubby is happy that we are living in the RV, I couldn’t buy any furniture of works of art, but it was nice looking at the items.

Every Tuesday from 5:00pm - 8:00pm beginning in June.

Wednesday, we ventured out to Bridger bowl. It is a non-profit sky resort and named after a famous Mountain man, Jim Bridger. Fun fact: a Mountain man is an explorer who lives in the wilderness. Mountain men were most common in the North American Rocky Mountains from about 1810 - 1880's. They were instrumental in opening the immigrant trails (widening them for wagon roads) allowing people from the east to travel to the new territories of the far west. At the same time the great push west along the newly opened Oregon Trail built up from a trickle of settlers in 1841 to a steady stream in 1844-46 and then became a flood as the highly organized Mormon migration exploded the road to the Great Salt Lake discovered by mountain man Jim Bridger in 1847 - 48.

The summit elevation is 8700 ft about sea level.

Located 16 miles from Bozeman on the Bridger Range.

Has a vertical drop of 2600 ft on the east-facing slopes.

Since 1988, the residents of Gallatin County have been alerted
when 2 inches of fresh snow fall at the ski resort. A flashing blue beacon
on top of the Baxter Hotel shines for 24 hours.

"The heavens are telling of the Glory of God; and their
expanse is declaring the work of His hands." Psalm 19:1 (NASB)

We also went to the movies on Thursday. The book club I "attend", "Book Club at the Barn" read the book, Where the Crawdads Sing. Hubby took one for the "team" and joined me. Reese Witherspoon did a great job with the movie, and it was almost exactly like the book. It was fun going to the movie theater. We have gone three times this year.

Saturday, we stayed at a Harvest Host farm. The SoJo Norwegian Ranch. It is so GREAT to be back. We stayed last year in June. They are such wonderful people, and it is just so much fun to hang out with them. Here are a few pictures of what we were able to experience.

Today we head out to Idaho, and I will be able to see my mom. It has been a little over a year since we have been there, and she has been through some health issues. I am most grateful to be able to see her again.

If there is something special you would like me to take a picture of, please let me know!
