Family Fun in Vegas

Week two in Vegas. It was full of family and fun. Last Sunday night, we went out to dinner with Robert. It was a good Mexican Restaurant and we decided to walk a bit because we ate so much. We were in Henderson, Nevada in the Water District area. Cute little downtown area with restaurants, shops, and micro-breweries. Also, a lady who was lying on a bench and talking to herself. Robert and hubby both thought she had a phone, nope. All I can do is pray for her, mental health issues are so hard on family and friends.

Monday, we ate at home. Had to go to the grocery store so we could eat at home. Tuesday, my sister, Stefanie, flew in from Houston. She was able to stay until Thursday. It was fun having her here. My dad and his wife, Connie (Robert's mom), also came to town. We had dinner with them Tuesday night and gambled a little bit. Connie has very good luck on the slots. It was fun watching her win.

Wednesday, we had a special night out at a restaurant that my dad used to go to in San Francisco. It is Lawry's Prime Rib. Yep, just like the season salt. It was also picture night. Had fun and my dad even cooperated. That was nice!

Me, Robert and Stefanie, Lawry's Prime Rib.

Sister time!

They put on a show with the salad. A spinning salad bowl.

So, they bring out this huge
dome where the prime rib is kept.

This is how they cut the prime rib
and also have their additional sides in there.

It was pretty tasty.

Thursday, Connie, Robert, Stef and I went out to breakfast before her flight. There was a quite large slot machine and if you played $3 you got a multiplier. Stef, took her turn first, put in $3 and with that one spin, won $109. So, with some encouragement from Connie, I played. Had a twenty, put it in the slot machine, nothing. So, why not try again. Pushed the button and all of the sudden I hear the noise that I heard when Stef won. It was so exciting. So from $6 I won $230. Well, minus the $6. My heart was beating so fast. Both times when we won, Robert was all, "cash out, cash out". So, we did.

Winner winner, chicken dinner!

Surprise, surprise, we went out to dinner again to dinner on Thursday night, I was going to cook, but with my winnings, hubby and I took out Robert, Dad and Connie. It was a little crazy and so very busy at the Texas Road House, but we survived. Friday, night we went out to dinner at a nice place at the casino and hotel where Dad and Connie were staying. Not only was Robert with us, but his youngest son, Adam, and his family. We had a nice time, and it was fun to be around children again. Adam has a very nice family.

Saturday, hubby and I took a road trip to Valley of Fire. It was a very interesting state park. Fun fact: Valley of Fire was Nevada's first state park and is the largest.

On the way to Valley of Fire.

I like how the mountains are changing.

Rugged and becoming sharper.

"Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver,
precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man's work will be
come evident; for the day will show it because it is to be
revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality
of each man's work." 1 Corinthians 3:12-13 (NASB).

Might make this our Nevada picture for the frame.

Starting to get more into the park.

Or this might be our Nevada photo.

Wind holes. Sandstone, weaken by weathering, often develops small
pits which are then enlarged by the action of wind and water

As the moisture dissolves away the minerals that cement the sand grains
together, winds whirl the loosened sand within the pit, literally sand-blasting
the holes so commonly seen in the Valley of Fire.

Arch Rock.

"Each of us has a fire in our hearts for something. It's our goal
in life to find it and keep it." Mary Lou Retton

Petrified Logs. Evidence of this area's forested past.

Over the course of 4,000 years, these lands were used
by Native Americans for hunting and gathering, farming and
religious ceremonies. Their petroglyphs, rock carvings found
in layers of desert varnish covering the sandstone.

Pretty cool to see.

Hubby took at panaramic view of the Seven Sisters.

Today, we will head out to watch the Texans play, for some reason they aren't showing in Nevada, boo, but we will have a good time, hopefully. I need a win!

"Keeping it real", have you ever had a stranger yell at you? Well, it happened to me and let me tell you, it wasn't fun or enjoyable. Why did he yell at me, glad you asked. I was finishing up walking Gus and I had his number two in a bag, like I always do, walking to the dumpster and that is where he yelled at me. According to him, I was supposed to throw it away at the dog park. In reading all the rules, and they have a number of them here, that isn't one of them. Now to be totally real, it does say that you need to take your dog to the dog park so they can do their business, but I can't have Gus around other dogs. He was attached a few years ago and can become aggressive with other dogs, especially if they are a larger breed. I try to take him towards the dog park, but we have only had one successful time with no dogs. Anyway, just needed to get that off my chest. Oh, the joys of full-time RVing with a dog.

If there is something special you would like me to take a picture of, please let me know!
