Just another Sunday in Waller, Texas

What a week it was! We were very busy but had a blast. Before we dig in, let me show you some clouds that have been hanging out while we have been here.

Hubby took this one at Jelly Stone RV Park.

I love seeing the rays shine through.

Another amazing sky given to us by our amazing God. "Let all the earth fear the Lord;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him." Psalm 33:8 (NASB).

Last Sunday, I was able to go to the Book Club Christmas party. It was a lot of fun and we all brought some snacks, talked about the books that we read over the year (I only read 2 of the book they chose for the year.), played a White Elephant game and made 2024 goals. Mine was going to attend at least 1 book club meeting (that will be in March) and to read all of the books that are chosen for the year.

Monday started out with a bang, I had lunch with Kathi (I forgot, again, to take pictures) and we ate at a good Mexican Restaurant. It was fun to visit and catch up with her. Monday night, we connected with Tim, Brandy, Christian, Hannah and Cameron. It is so fun to hand out with them and I love watching our son have such great friends.

Dinner at Edjoin. Hubby, Christian with Emerson on his neck, Brandy, me with Tim behind, Hannah and Cameron. Also congratulations goes to Cameron and Hannah, they got married.

Tuesday was a great day to be able to catch up on laundry and work. I also made Turkey Spaghetti. It was nice to have a big pan that could last us through a few lunches and dinner.

Wednesday, I was able to hang out with Fonda and Robin. It was so much fun. First, I went to get a haircut and then we all met at Lupe Tortillas. We were able to catch up, exchange gifts and just visit like old times. Love these ladies!

Myself, Fonda and Robin.

Thursday, hubby drove me to my Small Group Christmas party. I spent the day making rolls and cookies. We do a gift exchange that was a lot of fun. Hubby met up with Tressa and Andrew for dinner and then came back to get me.

Jill, myself, Colleen, Michelle, Tori and Kay.

Friday, I was able to meet up with Jean. We worked together at The Met; she is still working there. It is fun to catch up with her, just like with all The Met and CyLife ladies. We met up at Chili's and then hubby and I met up with Jeff and Jannae. Twice in one month, that was so good. "Keeping it real" I have eaten out so much that I will need to work extra hard to get this weight off. It was great to see Jannae and Jeff, originally, we were supposed to head over to Bellville to the Night of Worship and watch Tim play, but Bellville had a playoff football game and if they would have played no one would have shown up. They are going to reschedule that night to be in January.

Bellville, the county seat of Austin County, is at the junction of State highways 36 and 159 and Farm roads 529, 1456, and 2429, in central Austin County. The town was named for Thomas B. Bell, one of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred. Fun fact: The Old Three Hundred was made up of 297 people and Stephen F. Austin had been approved by Mexico in 1822 for 297 grantees (people) to purchase 307 parcels of land. This then created the first Anglo community in Mexico, Texas.

In 1846 voters decided to replace San Felipe as county seat with a new community near the geographic center of the county. Bell offered to donate 108 acres from the Nichols league for the new town. His offer, plus 37½ acres from his brother James Bell, was officially accepted the following year, and the site was surveyed and laid out in 1848. A post office was opened in 1849, and a temporary log courthouse was erected around the same time. In 1850 this courthouse was replaced by a larger structure in the central square. During the early 1850s several merchants, including Hermann Miller and a man named Strother, opened stores around the square. A new brick courthouse was begun in 1854, and other businesses opened in the late 1850s.

The town grew slowly until the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad reached it in the winter of 1879–80. In four months, the population increased from 300 to 522. Brick structures replaced wooden ones, and opulent Victorian homes were erected. Bellville became a transporting point for the region's cotton crop. In 1898, at the peak of the county's cotton boom, 8,626 bales of cotton were shipped from the town. By 1884 Bellville had two churches, two hotels, a bakery, a lumberyard, three saloons, twelve general stores, a public school, and two weekly newspapers, the Bellville Standard and the Austin County Times. Other signs of the town's rapidly growing prosperity included a library in 1886, the construction of a new courthouse in 1887, and the opening of the first bank in the early 1890s. The town was heavily German, and the schools provided both English and German instruction. The Great Depression influenced Bellville and the town had to close businesses. Currently, the town has a population of 4108. It is also a great place to shop, eat and enjoy looking at the old buildings.

Saturday, we ran errands, one was to James Avery, so I was able to gather up the rest of the states from my charm bracelets. After the charms come in, I will take a picture so you can see all the lower 48 states. We also had Christmas with family. Tim, Tressa, Andrew, Mark, Paige, Caitlyn, Lailah, Ashely, Mason and Colton. It was fun to be with them and especially to watch the kids open their gifts.

Today, we will go to church and then head over to a restaurant where we can watch the 49ers. I am hoping, once again, that the 49ers will win. I am excited about this game, well, all their games. I am also hoping the Texans will win as well.

If there is something special you would like me to take a picture of, please let me know!
