What a week it has been, hot is the word for it. Actually, the tee-ball game last Thursday was moved from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and I was so glad about that. It cooled down to 96 degrees and that made it so much better. The weather also gives us beautiful skies. These dark and mysterious clouds did not produce rain for us. I just love the way they look. Another picture of the moon. Monday was laundry day and that felt good to knock it out in one day. Funny, my washer/dryer takes 2 and a half hours for one little load, going into the house, I can knock laundry in a lot less time than that. Don't get me wrong, I love my washer/dryer. It was over three years ago we got this, so love being able to wash in the RV verses a laundry mat. "Keeping it real" Tuesday was a gut-wrenching day, I woke up to find out one of my best friend's daughter has passed away. She found out she had cancer in 2020 and battled through that and even got to ring the bell, not only to find out later th...
The last week has been a full one. We went sightseeing in Savannah with Caroline and Art last Sunday. We did a hop-on hop-off trolley so we could see the sights but also learn about the history of Savannah. In the 1730's, England founded the last of its colonies in North America. The project was the brainchild of James Oglethorpe, a former army officer. After Oglethorpe left the army, he devoted himself to helping the poor and debt-ridden people of London, whom he suggested settling in America. His choice of Georgia, named for the new King, was also motivated by the idea of creating a defensive buffer for South Carolina, an important colony with many potential enemies close by. These enemies included the Spanish in Florida, the French in Louisiana and along the Mississippi River, and Indian allies throughout the region. In 1732, the King chose twenty trustees who received funds for overseeing the colony. They could make laws, issue land grants and elect governing bodies for the c...
Idaho is certainly beautiful and certainly different from Hockley, Texas. It has been hot here, but if you go into the shade, it is nice, especially with a little breeze. At least I am not cold any longer, the snow, hail and freezing temps are gone. In Idaho part 1 we tackled 3 out of 7 Road Food restaurants and this past week, we tackled 3 more! Hubby and I had a brunch at Garnet's Cafe. Fun fact, garnet is the state gem of Idaho. After brunch we drove around to see Fernan Lake. Hubby was told it is a nice place to fish from the shore. Mainly there are trout in the lake, and we saw people fishing anywhere they could. It was a nice drive and we also stopped at the Lilly Pad Lake. Not sure what lurks beneath, but it was sort of scary; sure, wouldn't want the creature from the Black Lagoon to come out! Mom, Dave, Hilda, Steve, hubby and I went to Meltz another Road Food suggestion. If you want extreme grilled cheese this is the place for you! I enjoyed eating a Cubano grilled che...
