Kingsville, Texas - Hubby's hometown

We arrived in Kingsville on December 4, 2021. It was a nice day, a little warm as we set up, but a front blew in a couple of days later and gave us some nice weather.

Nature's Own RV Resort

As promised, I took pictures of our Christmas tree and a few other decorations that I have out to celebrate Christmas. Hubby put up lights on Saturday after arriving at Katy Lakes RV Resort. I will show you pictures next week.

My nativity from Hobby Lobby.

Santa on the pantry door.

My sitting Santa and candle ornament that lights up.

Here is our tree! Just love Buc-ees. I also found another Nativity in South Dakota.
Of course, I had to put out a trailer ornament as well.

We took out hubby's dad (Juan) out for dinner Sunday evening. It was a nice time. I think he had a nice time as well. As he is 90, his memory isn't what it used to be, but it was nice to see him. I also watched over him on Friday, so that his caregiver could have some time off.

Juan and hubby

We had time to visit with friends as well. Went out to see Joyce, she is our oldest daughter's Godmother. Went out to see Fran and Lloyd as well. Fran babysat our oldest while hubby and I went to Todd's college graduation party. I have known Todd since 1981. To see a picture of Todd, visit blog "San Diego part 2"

Me, Joyce and hubby - Merry Christmas

Hubby, me, Fran and Lloyd.

We were able to go out to dinner with hubby's brother, Jeff and his wife, Roxann. It was so good to see them, and we had a nice visit. Then Wednesday we saw Jeff again because he is our dentist. So, we had our teeth cleaned. No cavities! I will be going back later in December though; he needs to fix the area where I have a crown. After the dentist, we met up with the Salinas family. Hubby's sister, Margie, married Luis Salinas and they have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Unfortunately, Chris and his family couldn't join us. We did get to meet a new friend, Grace. She was Margie's caregiver before she passed. It was a great time! Also, great food!

Kingsville, Texas was named after Richard King (1824-1885), he was a river pilot (a person who maneuvers ships through dangerous or congested waters, such as harbors or river mouths), born in New York City to Irish immigrants. He was indentured to a jeweler at age 11, eventually attaining a pilot's rating. After the Mexican-American War, King made a good living hauling merchandise on the Rio Grande, as far up Riveras Camargo and Rio Grande City. King first saw the land that would become part of the King Ranch in April 1852 as he traveled north from Brownsville at attend the Lone Star Fair in Corpus Christi, a four-day trip by horseback. After a grueling ride, King caught sight of the Santa Gertrudis Creek, 124 miles from the Rio Grande. It was the first stream he saw on the Wild Horse Desert. The land, which was shaded by large mesquite trees, so impressed him, when he arrived at the fair, he and a friend, Texas Ranger Captain Gideon K. "Legs" Lewis, agreed then and there to make it into a ranch.

The King Ranch Brand

The King Ranch is the largest ranch in the United States. At some 825,000 acres it is larger than the state of Rhode Island. The ranch does not consist of one single contiguous plot of land, but rather four large sections called divisions. The divisions are the Santa Gertrudis, the Laurels, the Encino and the Norias. It is mainly a cattle ranch, but also produced the Triple Crown winning racehorse Assault. The King Ranch was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Fun Fact: hubby's mom was born on the King Ranch. Her father worked there.

Praying that you and your loved ones are feeling the Christmas Spirit as we draw close to the day where we celebrate Jesus' birth. "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this." Isaiah 9:6-7 (NASB)
