Welcome to Montgomery, Alabama! What an interesting week hubby and I encountered weather wise. Temperatures from the mid 30's to high 70's. Also had some rain and a day when we went site seeing that was very humid. All in all, it was a nice week.  Alabama state sign. The World Games, an international multi-sport event, it has sports or  disciplines or events within sports, that were not contested in the Olympic Games. Downtown Montgomery The site had a pond and four Canadian Geese along with one cute little white duck. It was fun watching them and a couple of the days, the geese had a "honking" parade.  Our site The pond These three always hung out. These two always hung out and were a little  louder with their honking and goose parades. I had to go to the Piggly Wiggly, just the name alone made me want to go. So, we found one, it was a little different than I imagined, but we were able to get just about everything needed for our week's stay. Here we are. This ju

Mississippi

Welcome to Mississippi! Toomsuba, was our home for the past week. We had a longer drive than usual from Shreveport KOA, but we got up early and made it to the Toomsuba KOA in good time, way before dark. That is always our goal. Known as the birthplace of America's Music. Mississippi is the birthplace of Elvis (King of  Rock  and Roll), Jimmie Rodgers (Father of Country music), and B.B. King (King of the Blues). "My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes,I will sing praises!" Ps 57:7 (NASB)  Hope each one of you had a Happy Valentine's Day. Hubby and I went out to eat dinner on Valentines and that is very unusual for us. When we checked into the Toomsuba/East Meridian KOA, we were told about the restaurant in Meridian. It is the oldest restaurant in Mississippi and one of the oldest in America. A Swiss immigrant, Felix Weidmann, opened the restaurant in 1870 housed in the Union Hotel on Front Street and then moved it to its local location on

Shreveport, Louisiana

Welcome to Shreveport, Louisiana population 192,035. It has been a fun week here, some days were cold, but as the week came to an end, we were able to sit outside.  Crossing the border into Louisiana. Our home for the week. Cute sign at the KOA office and store. The pond at the KOA. I didn't get too close,  not sure about alligators, sign said NOT to swim. There are many things to do here, but we mostly ate the good food. On Wednesday we went to Herby K's. It is a small place, I mean small, maybe 25 can be seated. It opened in 1936 and in 1945 Herby created a platter named the Shrimp Buster. Hubby had that and I had the small Shrimp Buster. It was good, the tartar sauce, out of this world. Nice and spicy. Fun fact: Herby K's began as a store in the bustling town of Shreveport. The west end was growing, and people were flocking to this end of town. The store sold packaged liquor, tobacco, and a sandwich for 15c. At that time, it was named the "Flying Crow" after a

Snow in Anna, Texas

We are in Shreveport, Louisiana, but I thought I would show you what happened in Anna before we hit the road. First, we were blessed to have time to visit with hubby's cousin (Belinda) and her husband (Andy). I cannot tell you the last time we saw each other, so many years ago. It was nice to visit with them in their home and then go out to eat Mexican food. If you are ever in Melissa, Texas, you will want to stop and eat at Maria's Mexican Restaurant. Hubby and I really enjoyed their food. Andy, Belinda, me and hubby. Secondly, Wednesday the temperature started dropping. Belinda was going to come out to the rig for a visit, but we had to push that to Friday. Well, Friday didn’t happen either. We actually stayed an extra day just to make sure the roads were free of ice. So on Wednesday night, the rain started and then it became freezing rain. Somewhere in the early morning on Thursday, it turned into beautiful snow. God was covering up the ground with His white fluffy snow. F
