Minnehaha - Just fun to say

The saying is "Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes" but it actually has over 21,000. It is a beautiful state and we have enjoyed our week's stay.

I wasn't able to get the real state sign, so I took this off of the internet.

Our Prior Lake, Minnesota site for last week.

The clouds

Us at the RV site with the casino in the background.

Mystic Lake Casino and a little bit of Gus.

On Father's Day, hubby and I went to the Mall of America. It used to be the site where the Twins (baseball team) and the Vikings (football team) played. Guess they wanted a new stadium and behold a HUGE mall was born.  Fun fact: the mall is the largest mall in the country and is 4.2 million square feet. Let's just say, hubby and I got our steps in that day.

Tim, our son, and I like to share pictures of Bigfoot. Look who I found at the mall.

Tuesday, hubby went into the office. US Bank's home office is in Minneapolis. Interesting fact about Minneapolis is that turkeys are everywhere. Just like the chickens in Key West and Ybor, Florida. So, when hubby went to the office he saw a couple. Looks like there were waiting to go to work.

I wonder if they hide in the month of November?

We went to the casino on Monday and then back on Wednesday. Let's just say this, slot machines and I aren't really friends. Although we did have an amazing dinner Wednesday night at the Mystic Lake Steakhouse. It has been a week of eating out, that is not good for myself when I step on that scale. Ever since my fall, we haven't been exercising like we were before, time to get "back into the saddle" by walking and planking.

Thursday was a lot of fun. Had an early dinner with some of hubby's co-workers. I have heard about them, but never had met them. Actually, hubby hadn't met all of them in person either. It was a nice time and we enjoyed getting to know them. After that we headed out to the Minnehaha Park and saw the falls. It is a huge park just in the middle of Minneapolis, lots of people walking, biking taking in the beauty of what God had created. This park is one of Minneapolis' oldest and most popular parks and features a 53-foot waterfall, limestone bluffs, and river overlooks. It also has a few sculptures that were fun to see while we were there.

We became residents of South Dakota over a year ago and the county were we reside is Minnehaha. I wanted to know if that was a real person, but she is a fictional Indian woman from Henry Longfellow's 1855 epic poem "The Song of Hiawatha". I found out last Thursday he was a man. Maybe I should read the epic poem.

Interesting statues at Minnehaha Park.

The start of the falls.

So pretty!

It was a warm day, but it was fun.

Friday was the day to start packing up because we left for North Dakota Saturday morning. The night before we leave, we go out to eat. Hubby found this cute restaurant named "Muddy Cow". It was a cute place, and we had a fun time enjoying the wonderful weather and a little time to relax before heading out.

Last night in Minnesota.

Just a cute cow.

More information about our North Dakota stays on the next blog. We stayed one night at a Harvest Host spot in Colfax, North Dakota.

Another new state! Here are the state bird, tree, flower and motto status for Minnesota.

*Minnesota: Common Loon (Bird), Red Pine (Tree), Showy Lady's Slippers (Flower), and "L' Étoile du Nord" (Motto). In English it means Star of the North.

Not sure if I have shared this with you or not, but each year I have a "word of the year" and this year, the Lord gave me the word "light". I am trying to be the Light (Jesus) to all I encounter and with full timing I don't always see people. So, when I do I try to remember that "When you possess light within you see it externally" (by Anas Nin). I also don't want to hide my light. "nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:15-16 (NASB)
