Walking on the Moon
We thoroughly enjoyed our last week in Twin Falls, Idaho area. Last Sunday we went to Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. It was established in 1924 by President Calvin Coolidge. Fun fact: The park contains three young lava fields formed by volcanic eruptions originating from a 52-mile-long tear in the earth's crust, known as the Great Rift.
On our drive to Craters of the Moon.
Crazy to see all the lava rocks.
The first area we hiked.
Very interesting landscape indeed.
The dead trees looked very wild.
Small little cave.
The colorful plants on the lava rock are
called lichens. They are airborne plants.

A Cinder Garden.
This is the second place we hiked.
We walked up to that mountain of lava rocks.

Very windy day.
Can you see the ice? Looking down into the Snow cone.
This view was after our third hike.
Thursday, we had a nice time driving out to the Balanced Rock Park. It just blows my mind how you drive from farmland to desert. Then the rocks come into view as well as canyons. It is truly a beautiful area.

More rocks.
Hubby thought this would be fun to do, hold the rock with my finger.
The Balanced Rock is 48 ft high and 40 ft wide on the top.
The base is only 3 ft x 17.5 inches.
The rhyolite monolith (rock) was shaped by differential weathering.
Friday was a very busy day. First, it was our 35th wedding anniversary. So, we enjoyed the day for sure. We also packed up the RV and went to get our new a/c. We dropped it off before 8:30am to make sure we would have it finished in time for our dinner reservations. Then had a day of fun along with Gus.

Our 35th wedding anniversary dinner. Elevation 486
(named after how far up it is from the Snake River).
We dropped off the RV, headed to grab some breakfast, walked on the bridge and then we drove to the bottom of the canyon to see what it was like to look up to the road. Found some beautiful waterfalls, a zip line station and a bike trail. The a/c took about an hour to replace it, so we were able to head back pick it up then drive back to the RV park. After that we froze in the bedroom. Let's just say it works well. We also headed out to lunch and to a Farmer's Market. We were able to chill and get to the restaurant before our reservation time. We were able to sit outside look at the canyon and Snake River for a final time while enjoying a beverage. Keeping it real, we met two other couples at the restaurant who were also celebrating their anniversaries. One couple also full time RV.

The beginning of the waterfalls.
"Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; all Your breakers and
Your waves have rolled over me." Psalm 42:7 (NASB)
Can you imagine what this would look like just after the snow melted?
Just so cool. Do you see both falls?
Just imagine the mighty roar of the water.
Looking up to the bridge.
Saturday, we headed to Utah. We will be in the Provo area for this week. Still in the desert climate and we will continue in this area until the second week of November.
