Black Mountain, North Carolina
We had a very nice trip from Tennessee to North Carolina. Such beautiful country to see, would also be amazing to see what this trip would look like in the month of May. All the trees so full, but Spring has come, and I do have a few pictures to show you how the flowers on the trees are so beautiful. God has such awesome creativity. We will be in Asheville, North Carolina for three weeks. This first week had nice weather and rainy weather, but we endured.
On our way to North Carolina.
State sign, well, sort of. I need to get better, hubby told me to
video it and then I could catch the sign better. I keep forgetting.
Our site for three weeks.
They have geese here.
We went on a walk to explore the KOA and I loved the flowing river. We walked
across this bridge and down by the lake. I asked hubby, "Do you think there are
alligators here?" He said, "I don't see any signs about them." Then a moment later we
heard a huge splash into the lake and I was done with exploring the area.
I can't get enough of this sky!
"Keeping it real", when we first parked the rig, we were looking at how close we were to the patio. All of the sudden we heard this hissing sound. No, not a snake, our tire. We were not sure which one it was and couldn't believe our ears. I thought it was the second tire, passenger side. So, hubby explored and found out it was a nail that we had run over. It was so strange that it was the second tire. We were guessing that the first tire ran over it, making the nail stand up and the second tire got it good. We were just thankful and praising the Lord that this happened at our site and not on the road. Hubby took it to Discount Tire, and they fixed it up like new. I must admit, I am a little tired of tire issues. Oh well, life goes on and God is good.
Can you see the nail? Or maybe it is a screw.
On its way to Discount Tires.
We were driving into Asheville (we are actually in the town of Swannanoa) to the Walmart and the sky was very active, hubby told me that there were rain showers just south of us. I was hoping that Tara and the boys would be hit hard by any storms.
There were more like this, but the turning of the highway made it
difficult to take pictures. Plus the trees are so high in the background.
We are really close to a cute little town named Black Mountain. We drove there and parked and walked around the town. Black Mountain was originally known as Grey Eagle to the Cherokee and Catawba Native Americans who lived and hunt here in great numbers. Early settlers of the area were lured by the adventure and rugged beauty of the surrounding mountains. The town was founded in 1893. It was named for the Black Mountain range that border the town to the north. at the time of incorporation, the town had become a jobber pathway for westbound immigrants, commercial trade, and the mountain railroad. The strategic location helped establish Black Mountain as one of the most prosperous and picturesque communities in the country.
"If you dream of becoming an eagle, you follow your dreams and not
the words of a bunch of chickens". Penny Johnson Jerald
Fun fact: Roberta Flack was born in Black Mountain on February 10, 1937.
On Friday night we drove into Asheville for dinner and a Ghost tour. I am not a believer in ghosts, but I do know there is a spiritual world all around us. The most amazing thing happened during this tour, we met four people that are awesome. One was a couple from the Nashville area (when we go to Nashville again, we will look them up) and the other were friends who live in Asheville. It is so cool when God brings special people into our lives. I know I should have taken pictures, but we were so involved in talking and sharing our lives with one another that I just didn't think about it.
Can't get enough of triangle shaped buildings. So far in my life, I have seen
them in New York City, New York, Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Chattanoogas,
Tennessee and here in Asheville, North Carolina.
This is such a beautiful building, it is Asheville's City Hall.
Saturday, hubby was nice enough to take us to brunch. I woke up in a strange mood and I knew I wasn't in the mind set of fixing breakfast. So, we drove back to the cute little town of Black Mountain and went to Louise's Kitchen. The rain had stopped, the sun broke out and we had a nice time on the porch eating our food. It was good food; I must say, and the people were all so very nice. Thanks, hubby, for going on the spur of the moment.
Waiting in line for brunch.
